SxTalks

Our SxTalk program is hosted through Advocates for Reproductive Education and the WeARE Clinic in Brainerd. The program meets monthly with topics, tools, and incentives to educate youth on their terms and in a safe space called TheShop.

Besides focusing on personal reproductive health and wellness we spend time discussing topics such as healthy relationships, human trafficking, pornography or sexting. Professionals from our community visit monthly to share accurate information and allow for open discussion.

This program invites youth who are, in that healthy rite of passage for teens, beginning to experiment with their bodies and beginning to romanticize within their relationships a safe outlet to learn from professionals. To feel comfortable within their bodies and to keep themselves safe no matter where they are physically and emotionally.

We believe this program is so important for our youth and so very crucial for the health of our community that we pay a stipend of $5.00 to every youth who participates every time they participate. And because hungry bodies have difficulty focusing, we bring in pizza and snacks for all to share.

Parents are welcome to attend any of our monthly SxTalks with their teens. Feel free to sit in an adjoining room and listen to the insightful questions and answers.
